Celebrate the holiday season with some simple, DIY craft activities! Here’s how you can make a paper snowflake and Christmas tree gift wrap.

Who says jobs are boring? One just needs to break the routine once in a while, be creative and the little somethings are sure to bring back some cheer.

In keeping up with the Christmas theme, this year we decided to take inspiration from children and have some hands-on fun in the office. So, we brainstormed and had a little fun playing with ideas. That’s when we came up with the idea of doing craft activities in the office and filming it to make short videos. The thought of it was enough to take us back to our childhood.

Like kids, we excitedly drew up a plan, made a list of things we wanted, and got decorative papers and materials. Soon, we had enough material to cover the entire floor. We put our heads together to find the best spot to film and even got a ring light to maximize the output.

In the process, we did dislocate a few people from their desks but our enthusiasm was so infectious that our colleagues readily joined in. On the day we had decided to film, our office looked nothing less than a lively craft class. We had so much fun doing this activity that I thought I must share my DIY craft experience with you.

I will share with you 2 craft ideas to have fun this Christmas.

  1. Paper Snowflake
  2. A Christmas Tree Gift Wrapping

None of us are craft professionals, so I can assure you that the activities are charmingly simple for anyone to undertake. So, bring out your glue and your scissors and let the hands do all the talking.

How To Decorate a Christmas Gift with a DIY Christmas Tree at Home?

Wrap Your Presents in Festive Elegance

Sending and receiving gifts is one of the highlights of Christmas. We all look forward to getting the right gifts for our loved ones. For children, the excitement often starts weeks before Christmas, hinting and anticipating the gifts they are about to receive.

Wrapping gifts is an art. It is the first introduction to the gift. A thoughtfully wrapped gift can create as much elation as the gift itself. Also, it adds an element of personalisation to the gift, making it all the more special. It is like the personal notes or hand-written cards that you receive on birthdays that are often preserved for years.

A personalised gift wrapping adds that extra zing to your presents. While gifting cousins, friends, or siblings, encourage your children to undertake DIY projects. It will not only stimulate creativity but also help them bond better to form lasting relationships.

This attractive gift-wrapping is sure to soar the Christmas spirit. Follow these steps for a whimsical Christmas tree gift wrapping:

Things You Will Need

  1. A Green Satin Ribbon
  2. A double-sided cello tape
  3. Glue
  4. A decorative star
  5. An ice cream stick

Creative Time – 5 minutes

Following are the steps:

  1. Wrap your Christmas present in a light-coloured paper
  2. Apply a strip of double-sided cello tape in the middle and remove one side
  3. Affix a green satin ribbon to the exposed tape, twirling it to form a Christmas tree-shape
  4. Once the tree is ready, cut the ribbon, securing the end with the remaining sticky tape
  5. To decorate the tree, cut out a golden star and stick it to the top of the tree.
  6. Use an ice cream stick for the tree trunk, adjusting the length accordingly.

Christmas is a Great Time to Collaborate with Creativity

We had an amazing time doing this activity and the output was equally good. It got our creative juices flowing and brought the team together for a joint effort. Every suggestion was tried and tested to get the best result. It was a lesson in the success of a collaborative effort and at the end of the day, the sense of achievement and shared energy fueled our team with a renewed spirit.

Get Your Children To Work With Their Hands

A lived experience maximises learning. If we as adults enjoyed this activity, I’m sure that kids will have an amazing time making stuff with their hands.

Encouraging children to create something on their own doesn’t just encourage their creativity but also develops in them a sense of pride and ownership. It helps them to experiment and have fun while doing so.

In Conclusion

Art is a form of expression and creating something is immensely fulfilling. The success of the DIY activity has prompted us to take on more projects in the future which we will record and upload on our blog and social media. So, be sure to check out our feel-good DIY.

Until then, try this activity at home Because as Albert Einstein says “Creativity is intelligence having fun”.
